When dreams come true: Joseph’s story
Sometimes, dreams come true. After hard work, thousands of hardships, and after months and months of setbacks. But they come true.
Today we want to tell you the story of Joseph Perfection Bouasse Ombiogno, who on Thursday October 13th realised his dream of signing for a Serie A club, Roma. How come it is us telling you this story? Because Joseph took his first steps on an Italian football pitch right here with us, Liberi Nantes, at the April 25th Stadium in Via Marica 80 in Pietralata.
Here, as soon as he set foot on the playing field, he captured the attention of our Toti, who was bewitched by the touch of this baby-faced colossus. “As soon as Joseph touched the ball the first time that he came to us – Toti said in an interview with Calciomercato.it – I remember saying right away: Great, we’ve won the league. In the third amateur division, he was 30 levels above the others. He’s two-footed, has excellent technique and a good shot, but he can also run all day and is very strong physically. He’s a bulldozer with delicate feet. On top of that, he can also dribble and has played out wide with some success”.
After the experience with Liberi Nantes, Joseph trained for many months with Roma at their Trigoria training ground, without the chance of being signed, as he was under-age. “There were lots of problems with his registration”, Toti explained. “Even though he had everything it takes to make it, he could not sign right away due to his age. It was a bit of an odyssey for him. His 18th birthday was in September and yesterday [Thursday, 14 October] he finally signed for Roma. We spoke on the phone last night; he called me immediately to tell me the news. He was overjoyed and I was so happy for him. He’s a great lad, both as a footballer and as a person.
Yes, this splendid lad has realised his dream. Our dream.
