Last appointment of the season for camiNantes
On May 22 we will undertake the last mountain walk of the season, with a walk within everyone’s capabilities in a really evocative location.
The destination of the excursion is the enchanting Aniene waterfalls, and the surrounding highlands. The walk will take about three hours there and back.
Let’s find out a little more about what awaits us!
The whole route of the footpath, which rise to about 400m, is found in the heart of the Simbruini Park, beside a nature reserve.
The source of the Aniene river is an underground spring, the area where the water emerges being known by everyone locally as Fiumata. Between the rocks immersed in the cold clear water of the river it is possible to make out the occasional trout, while climbing up the easy path towards the waterfalls you pass through woods of beech trees and fields which, in these spring months, are covered with mountain gentians. During the climb, guarding the way, are two of the most beautiful peaks on Lazio: Mount Tarino and Mount Cotento (2,000m).

What to bring: A k-way and/or other waterproof clothes. Walking boots or sports shoes with good support. Packed lunch with at least 1l of water.
