CamiNantes, il prossimo appuntamento per questo mese

Ritorna anche a marzo l’appuntamento mensile con l’escursionismo dei Liberi camiNantes.

Domenica 20 ci aspetta un percorso tra la campagna e le colline della Tolfa, tra natura e testimonianze storico-artistiche, fino a raggiungere e i resti dell’antico abitato di Monterano, abbandonato alla fine del 1700.

Difficoltà: facile, adatta a tutti

Arrivati in treno a Manziana si raggiunge attraverso strade di campagna l’abitato di Canale Monterano. Dal paese si scende nel cuore della Riserva naturale regionale di Monterano, attraversando piccoli corsi d’acqua e sorgenti solforose. Si risale poi sulla rocca tufacea del vecchio abitato di Monterano, passando per la tagliata e le tombe etrusche, l’acquedotto del XVII secolo e raggiungendo i resti del castello Orsini, della chiesa e del convento di San Bonaventura, con l’attigua fontana ottagonale del 1679, progettati dal Bernini.

L’appuntamento è all’uscita della fermata della metro A di Valle Aurelia, sotto alla stazione del treno di Valle Aurelia, alle ore 8,30.

Per chi fosse più comodo salire altrove ci si vede sul treno o all’arrivo alla stazione di Manziana, prevista per le ore 10.04.

March sees the return of the monthly hiking expedition with Liberi camiNantes.

The itinerary on Sunday 20th takes us through the countryside and the hills of Tolfa, between nature and historical/artistic treasures, until we reach the remains of the old town of Monterano, which was abandoned at the end of the 1700s.

Degree of difficulty: easy, suitable for all

Arriving in Manziana by train, the Canale Monterano neighbourhood is reached across country roads. From the town you descend into the heart of the Monterano Nature Reserve, crossing small streams and sulphurous springs.

The path rises to the tufa rock of the old town of Monterano, passing through the cut and the Etruscan tombs, and by the seventeenth century aqueduct, before arriving at the ruins of the Orsini Castle, and the church and convent of Saint Bonaventura, with the adjoining octagonal fountain from 1679, designed by Bernini.

The meeting point is the exit of the stop of the Valle Aurelia metro A line, under the Valle Aurelia train station, at 8.30am.

If it is easier for people to join the train elsewhere, we can meet on the train or on arrival at Manziana station, which is scheduled for 10.04am.
